In the middle of August 2018, VIKAR completed the project of transporting heavy equipment – propulsion motors for an atomic icebreaker from the temporary pier on the Neva river, PJSC Izhorskie Zavody to the Big Sea Port of St. Petersburg, the pier of the Baltic Shipyard.

Before the start of the transportation, the specialists of LLC “VIKAR” developed and agreed on a project for loading CTG onto a barge – platform “2033” using the RO-RO method and a project for transporting CTG on a barge – platform “2033”.

For the transportation of heavy cargo, our company carried out the necessary work on the diving survey of the bottom and depth measurements in the water area of the special berth of Izhorsk Plants PJSC.

The carriage was carried out in tow – the barge line-up of the Zubr tug and the barge – the “2033” platform. In accordance with the loading steps, the necessary ballast operations were performed. Oversized equipment was loaded by the RO-RO method on a temporary pier in the Ust-Izhora region.

The rowing electric motors were placed on the cradles installed on wooden supports on the cargo deck of the barge, so that without additional reinforcing measures of the hull of the barge to distribute the load on the deck structures. Mounts were used for fastening: stops from transverse and longitudinal displacement, chains with a tensioning device to prevent tilting of propeller motors. For tightening the chains on the cargo deck, the eyes were welded in the appropriate places.

Upon arrival of a heavy oversized cargo to its destination, the equipment was cleared and unloaded using a Demag SPK-1 crane with a carrying capacity of 350 tons to the shore.

The customer of the transportation was the company PJSC “LEZ”, LLC “TehnoServis”.

We thank LLC ARK Shipping Company and LLC VBL for assistance in providing transportation.
